Hello.

This is my first chance to get into cracking world. I'm trying to unpack an exe file, named VCDS.exe (from the VCDS 805.1 software from Ross Tech), which is packed with PC Guard 5.0. I have been trying for some months with a lot of tutorials (usually using OllyDbg v1.10) and I don't understand anything. I'm trying to do what the tutorial says and I always get wrong. I can't unpack that file!

But fortunatelly I found this forum...what a surprise! Here I see that someone called pavka have unpacked the previous version of that program (Vag-Com 704.1). I only want to unpack the vcds.exe to take it into Reshack and translate it. So, can someone help me? Maybe can someone unpack it for me, please?

If someone can to unpack it, here is a link with the software (the packed file is vcds.exe, but I included the rest of the program files as I think that maybe there're some critical files) It's only 4.46 mb:

If you're satisfied, I can give you unpacked 8050 constantly doing the same thing is not interesting. Specialists in unpacking a lot

Well, you're telling me that the unpacked Vag-Com 805 is not ready to be edited with Reshack? I got an unpacked Vag-Com 704.1 from somewhere (I don't remember where) and I edited the resources and the program runs perfect.

So, can you give me an unpacked Vag-Com 805.0? I'll be so greateful!!

Hello pavka. I have a problem. The program that you unpacked works great in the menus, is able to find the interface etc., but when you try to make any communication with the car, the program shows an exception saying something about "runtime error" and "floating point". With the original executable I can communicate properly without that exception.

What's the problem??

Man ordered to unpack, not to speak of any problems in the file. I did not test it. I found a host unpacked 805.0.2.0. Maybe it will come to you?

But the unpacked file that you have posted is not working as the packed file. That unpacked 805.0.2.0 is other file? If it is, can you post it here?

I finally get an unpacked EXE from VCDS 805.0 that runs OK. But the problem is that when I try to edit resources and save, PE Explorer says that SizeOfImage is different. I tried answering YES and NO, and allways the EXE gets corrupted and I cannot start the application. ResHack says nothing when you press Save.

Also, if you open the unpacked EXE with PE Explorer or ResHack, even doing nothing (only open and save as, with no change) the EXE gets also corrupted. What can I do to edit resources and get the EXE running OK?

resources(.rsrc) must be last section in PE executable

No one knows how to edit the resources of the last file that I have posted?? At least you can open the executable and see the resources (with PCGuard protection you couldn't see the resources at ResHack), but when saving (even if no change has been made) the executable gets corrupted and is not working anymore.

It seems like having some kind of protection that gets the executable unservible when saving it. But I've searched with PEiD and I haven't see any protection.

What happens with that executable??
